September 2022 Newsletter

Greetings, Senate District 50 DFL Voters!

Early voting is open! If you’ve been saying to yourself “I’ll volunteer when we get close to the election” – well, now is the time! It is critically important that we turn out to help send Representatives Edelson and Elkins back to the State House, send Dr. Alice Mann to the State Senate, and keep our state government in DFL hands. Too much is at stake – our future elections, bodies, climate, and lives are depending on good government for years to come. We make the future!

COMING UP!

A graphic of a bowl of chili and the words Chili Cook-Off

October 8: Senate District 50 DFL is pairing up with our neighbors in Senate District 51 (Bloomington, Richfield, South Minneapolis) for a bigger and better than ever Chili cookoff! A tradition born out of the Bloomington municipal elections, it’s always an incredible time knocking on doors, and building community over a hot bowl of chili. We are knocking doors on behalf of all six DFL-endorsed legislative candidates in SD50 and SD51 – and we can’t wait to see who wins the trophy for best chili. Sign up here to join us!

October 11: Dean Phillips will be joining us for dessert and a special door knock, and everyone's invited! State Representatives Heather Edelson and Steve Elkins will be joining as well - it's sure to be a wonderful time! Volunteers are encouraged to bring a dessert to share.

After we've had our fill of dessert, we'll get out into the district to knock on some doors. Wear comfortable shoes, and come with the MiniVAN app downloaded to your phone. New to door knocking? Don't worry! We'll make sure you're trained and can send you out with a partner. Sign up here to join us!

Multiple dates: The Minnesota DFL Coordinated Campaign has phone banking and door knocking throughout October and leading up to Election Day – sign up for a shift now, and check back as more are added! More information is available at this link. What is the Coordinated Campaign? A DFL staffer who is working to ensure that Democrats are elected at all levels of government – from our local legislature seats up to the Governor.
